Britt Steel

Senior permanent makeup artist, Fine Line Tattoo Artist, Trainer & Owner

Valley Roots Studio is owned and operated by Britt Steel. Britt is 12x certified and proudly established her business in 2018.

Britt is passionate about brows, and believes they are the accentuating feature of every face. She specializes in a variety of brow styles, from the super-natural look of microblading, to the bold makeup look brought to you by shading. At Valley Roots Studio, brows are never free-handed, nor is the same stencil used on every face. Instead Britt uses a special measuring technique called the “golden ratio” to create custom brows that match your personal style and suit your facial features.

She is also certified in permanent eyeliner, lip blush, freckles, fine line tattoos, and microrealism. Britt takes hygiene and sanitation seriously. She is Blood Borne Pathogen certified, insured, and only uses disposable tools.

Outside of work, Britt loves being with her family! Together they cook, garden, camp, and ride motorcycles. All of Britt’s remaining free time is spent perfecting her tattooing techniques and growing the business.

Caitlin Stusser

Esthetician + Permanent Makeup Artist

Caitlin Stusser is an Esthetician and Microblading Artist. After entering the beauty industry 8 years ago, her passion for natural beauty and earth friendly products led her to specializing in sugar hair removal. She is known for her quick and gentle Brazilians as well as for brow shaping.

Her love for eyebrows started her journey into the Permanent Makeup world. Caitlin is PhiBrows certified and plans on continuing her education to include powder brows and other cosmetic tattoo services.

In her spare time, Caitlin likes to spend time with her family. She has a daughter and son that both keep her on her toes. She also enjoys trying new recipes, going on walks and is an avid reader.

Caitlin is the owner of SugarPot Studio (located inside Valley Roots).

Emily Rohland

Permanent Makeup Artist + Piercer

Emily Rohland is certified in Lip Blush, Eyeliner, and Piercings. She takes pride in offering personalized care to each client, spending time to understand their exact desires for their makeup. She is also insured and Blood Borne Pathogen certified.

She’s spent the last 11 years in a corporate job, most recently as a Project Manager, and is excited to move into a role where she can be more creative. This, coupled with her passion for caring for and nurturing others, has motivated her toward a career in Permanent Makeup. She believes that all women should feel empowered, confident and beautiful with any look they choose.

Outside of work, Emily likes to spend time with her family, gardening, reading, camping (mostly to cook over an open fire!) and baking bread.

Emily is the owner of A New Leaf Ink (located inside Valley Roots).

Alex Jones

Tattoo Artist

Alex specializes in the art of Fine Line Tattoos. She has had a love of tattoos since she was a child. She started collecting her own tattoos on her 18th birthday and has never looked back. She believes tattoos are a uniquely individualized form of self expression. Her apprenticeship with Britt has only deepened her passion for tattooing and her love of the craft. Alex works closely with her clients to provide them with tattoos that are meaningful and authentic to who they are. Alex is Blood Borne Pathogens certified, licensed, and insured.

After pursuing a degree in Applied Behavioral Science and working in the non-profit sector, she has decided to transition her career into Fine Line Tattooing. She blends the skills she has developed in pursuit of her degree with Fine Line Tattooing to provide clients with an atmosphere of safety, compassion, and attentiveness.

Alex is a Pacific Northwest native. In her spare time, she enjoys collecting house plants, making macramé, weightlifting, and hanging out with her dog child, Pepper. Fun fact: she is also the eldest sister to Britt and McKale!

Alex is the owner of Black Opal Ink (located inside Valley Roots).

Pepper

Customer greeter

Hello! My name is Pepper. I am the Client Ambassador of Valley Roots Studio. My mom, Alex, is the owner of Black Opal Ink.

I’m a long-haired chihuahua and I am 7 years old. I weigh 6.5 pounds; my mom says I am very smol. I love meeting new people. My friends describe me as very friendly and outgoing. I’m always ready to be picked up and held, and I especially love having my tummy scratched! I’m so happy to be able to come to work with my mom everyday; I get to see my aunt, Britt, and make new friends with all of the clients who come into the studio.

When I’m not working in the studio you can find me playing with my tiny tennis ball, lounging in my heated bed, and daydreaming about snacks.
