Q. WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo process that creates individual, hair-like strokes with a hand tool called a microblade. A microblade is wielded like a pen, but the tip contains many tiny needles that open the skin to implant pigment (color). This process creates hyper realistic eyebrow hairs to enhance your brow shape and definition, all while maintaining a natural look.
Q. WHICH BROW STYLE IS BEST FOR ME?
Microblading heals very light, and is only recommended if you don’t wear any brow makeup and are seeking the lightest, most natural look. The best skin type for this style is young, healthy, dry skin. Microblading does not retain on oily skin.
Microshading also looks natural, because of the microbladed hairstrokes throughout, but the addition of shading infuses more color into the skin for a soft makeup finish. This style is generally suitable for all skin types, but will fade faster on oily skin.
Hybrid and Powder Brows are great for all skin types, ages, and coverups. The majority of the brow is filled in with solid shading, to fully replace brow makeup and give long term definition.
Q. WILL MY BROWS LOOK BAD DURING THE HEALING PROCESS?
Most clients are day-ready as soon as the service is over, with minimal redness and rarely any swelling. Because I have my clients follow a hydrated healing aftercare routine, they will have minimal scabbing or peeling.
Q. CAN YOU TOUCH UP ANOTHER ARTIST’S WORK?
Working over old permanent makeup done by a different Artist is not considered a touch up, and is instead billed as a new service. This is an industry standard, because correcting another Artist’s work is very challenging and takes as much, or more, time as a new service.
Q. HOW DO YOU PICK THE SHAPE AND COLOR?
Your shape will be designed based on your personal style and facial measurements. You will see and approve the design before anything begins. To determine the color, we will review an in-depth color chart that takes into consideration your hair color, skin tones, and other factors. You will also approve the color beforehand.
Q. DOES IT HURT?
Before beginning your service, you will be numbed for 20 minutes to avoid as much pain as possible. Most clients report no pain, and even fall asleep.
Q. WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS LIKE?
It takes 6 weeks for your skin to fully heal after any Permanent Makeup service. During this 6 week period, your treated area will go through a series of different stages.
The first 1-4 days your color will appear very dark. The following 5-7 days your skin will begin to peel and flake. After that, the new skin begins to grow in around days 8-10, during which time the pigment may look like it has disappeared. The pigment will begin to resurface over the course of the next 14-28 days.
For the first 14 days, you must avoid sweating, sitting moisture, excessive sun exposure, and skincare/makeup products on the treatment area.
Q. IS A CONSULTATION REQUIRED?
No, a consultation is only recommended if the client has previous permanent makeup they want to cover/correct, health concerns, or is inquiring about removal.
Q. HOW LONG DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP LAST?
The long-term retention of any permanent makeup varies from person to person, and is influenced by their skin type and lifestyle. Some things that will reduce your retention include excessive sun exposure, oily skin, and use of anti-aging products. Most clients choose to refresh their permanent makeup every 1-2 years.
Q. IS A TOUCH UP SESSION REQUIRED?
Yes, a touch up session is required for brows and eyeliner. In most cases, cosmetic tattoo pigment lightens up by about 30% following the first treatment. A touch up session allows us to implant more pigment for longer-lasting color, fill in any sparse areas, and enhance the shape. The touch up will be scheduled 6-10 weeks after your initial service.
